I just love the simplicity and efficiency of slow cooker meals for busy families.

In today's fast-paced world, finding time to prepare wholesome, home-cooked meals can feel like an impossible task for busy families. Between work, school, extracurricular activities, and other obligations, it's easy to rely on fast food or takeout for convenience. However, there is a solution that allows families to enjoy nutritious meals without sacrificing precious time: the slow cooker.

Slow cooker meals have become increasingly popular among busy families, and for good reason. These versatile kitchen appliances offer a convenient way to prepare delicious meals with minimal effort. From hearty stews and soups to tender roasts and flavorful casseroles, the possibilities are endless when it comes to slow cooker recipes.

One of the biggest advantages of slow cooker meals is their simplicity. With just a few ingredients and minimal prep work, you can create a satisfying meal that will feed the whole family. Simply add your ingredients to the slow cooker, set the desired cooking time and temperature, and let the appliance do the rest. Whether you're a seasoned chef or a novice in the kitchen, slow cooker meals are virtually foolproof, making them perfect for busy families on the go.

Another benefit of slow cooker meals is their ability to save time. Unlike traditional cooking methods that require constant monitoring and attention, slow cookers allow you to “set it and forget it.” This means you can start dinner in the morning before heading off to work or school and return home to a hot, ready-to-eat meal in the evening. This not only eliminates the need for last-minute meal prep but also frees up valuable time that can be spent with family or on other activities.

In addition to being convenient and time-saving, slow cooker meals are also cost-effective. By using inexpensive cuts of meat and pantry staples, you can create budget-friendly meals that won't break the bank. Plus, slow cooking allows flavors to meld together over time, resulting in rich, complex dishes that taste like they've been cooking all day—even if they only took a few minutes to prepare.

Furthermore, slow cooker meals are incredibly versatile and can easily be customized to suit your family's preferences and dietary needs. Whether you're cooking for picky eaters, vegetarians, or those with food allergies, there are countless recipes available that can be adapted to accommodate any dietary restrictions or preferences.

So if you are a crazy busy family or mama, slow cooker meals are an ideal option for busy families looking to enjoy wholesome, home-cooked meals without the stress and hassle of traditional cooking methods. With their simplicity, time-saving benefits, cost-effectiveness, and versatility, it's no wonder why slow cookers have become a staple appliance in kitchens around the world. So dust off your slow cooker and start exploring the endless possibilities of delicious, stress-free meals for your family today!

Ok, here is how I made my slow cooker Chicken and Dumplings!

Ingredients: Chicken and Dumplings

  • 1 lb chicken thighs
  • 10.5 oz cream of chicken
  • 10.5 oz water
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth no sodium
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sage
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed
  • 1 1/2 cups mixed vegetables frozen

Dumplings

  • 2 cups bisquick prepared per box instructions
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions: Chicken and Dumplings

  • In your slow cooker add chicken to the bottom in single layer
  • Dump all ingredients with the exception of the frozen veggies, bisquick mix and seasonings for the biscuits – parsley, salt and pepper. You can mix these ingredients together in a bowl before pouring over the chicken, but I just dumped them together on top of the chicken and it works just fine.
  • Place lid on slow cooker for 6-8 hours on low
  • Once chicken is cooked at 165 internal temperature you will want to shred or cut chicken up. Depending on your slow cooker, this will be about 5 hours. I love to use this MEAT MASHER HERE – as it does a great job shredding it up for me without taking it out.
  • Then add Frozen vegetables to slow cooker and place lid on while mixing up the drop biscuits.
  • You can make your own biscuit mix but I just use bisquick – just mix per box instructions.
  • Make drop biscuits per box instructions and drop spoon fulls of biscuit mix over the top of the meat mixture
  • Simply drop by the spoonfuls on top of the meat mixture.
  • Then add to the top of the biscuits parsley, salt and pepper.
  • Cover with lid and let it cook on low for about an hour until dumplings are done.
  • You can check with fork to make sure they are ready. Fork should come out clean and biscuits will be flakey not doughy.
  • Biscuits should be flake on top and all the meat and veggies below
  • Now scoop into a bowl and enjoy
Side Dish Idea:

This dish to me is a one pot dish, however you could add a garden salad with it if you want.

DITCH THE DINNER TIME STRESS!!

Stressed at dinner?

I would love to help you ditch that dinner time stress once and for all! I have got just the thing for you! And the best part is Crazy Busy Mama will do all the planning for you! Check out my CRAZY BUSY MAMA MEAL MEMBERSHIP! This is a meal plan that will get your family eating at home and will help you save money too!

Crazy Busy Mama Tip:

You will see in video, my chicken is still frozen you may have to adjust cooking time if you are starting out with frozen instead of thawed chicken. Less dishes later, if you use the liner on the slow cooker it makes it for easy clean up! Also, instead of mixing ingredients together in a bowl before pouring over the chicken, just dump them all on top of the chicken together. Why not save a dish this way. I always use no sodium broth but you can choose low or regular chicken broth if you desire.

Have leftovers you can store in air tight container for 3-4 days in refrigerator.

So yummy and easy!! I put this together this morning so we could have it when we got home from church. Just had to drop the veggies and biscuits in once we got home. Easy! I didn’t have Bisquick nor mixed veggies but I just used a scratch drop biscuit recipe and a bag of frozen peas and carrots. This recipe makes it easy to substitute for things you already have on hand which I love. Very delicious and my family all loved it!
