March is National Nutrition Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of making informed food choices and developing healthy eating habits.
Nutrition, another topic we get to teach our children about! It may seem a little daunting with all of the different facets of this topic, but as mamas it is so important that we instill healthy habits in our children! And it is so important that our kiddos see us caring about our own health and nutrition! After all, monkey see monkey do!

I do want to take a moment to clear a few things up, I am not talking about size! Nutrition is not about being a specific size! It is about fueling your body and treating your body well! A lot of nutrition and healthy eating is about moderation! It is important that set a good example for our kids when it comes to how we treat our bodies! I talk about this topic in another blog for healthy recipes, Healthy and Delicious: 6 Guilt-Free Slow Cooker Recipes You’ll Love.
“Okay since we are talking about healthy eating, I am going to get up on a Mama Soapbox for a minute. While I know we all have a size we would love to be, that is not what eating healthy should be about! Let's change the tone and make it about feeling our best, so we can live our lives to the fullest! Let's remember that our children are looking at us!! Let's be a good example for them to eat healthy for the right reasons. Let's be KIND about our own bodies. Let's work out to be STRONG, not skinny. Let's eat healthy to FEEL OUR BEST, not to be a certain size. Let's wear makeup to feel FANCY not to be pretty. Let's break the cycle for our girls! God made them exactly right, after all we are each made in his image! Just remember how you speak about yourself can easily become the inner monologue your daughter ‘hears' while viewing herself! I think we all can agree that we want our girls to be strong, kind and CONFIDENTLY THEMSELVES! Or in other words absolutely FLAWSOME 💖”

Okay, now how can we make nutrition a priority without adding to you ever growing to do list as a Crazy Busy Mama?
- Start small! If your kiddos aren't used to eating vegetables with every meal, there will be push back if you all of a sudden have a ton of veggies on their plates!
- Hide the veggies! Of course this is more of a temporary fix, your children will eventually need to eat vegetables. But if you are trying to get a 2 year old to eat vegetables, this is a great solution. We all know there isn't much reasoning with a 2 year old. Many recipes can have veggies added without the kids knowing! You just need a food processor!
- Check the Label! I would be faulting y'all if I didn't mention Red Dye in a post about nutrition. Red Dye 3 has been recently revoked in the US. In addition to being not very good for you, Red Dye has been linked to some behavioral issues in children. So if your kiddo is experiencing irritability, mood swings, or aggression; reducing or omitting red dye from their daily consumption may help! * It is actually pretty easy to cut out red dye, it is mainly in processed foods that are bright red! If you still want your foods or drinks to have the fun cherry color, I will add some alternatives in the Crazy Busy Mama Tip below! *
So now that we have covered the bases of Nutrition and motherhood, let get to some recipes that are nutritious and delicious! These recipes will help your whole family get much needed nutrition!
