Spring seems to be one of the busiest seasons for our family. Between spring sports – track and baseball, spring productions for my daughter who is in theater to the end of school it is rare we have a night without something already planned for us. It can be rough living a fast paced life, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Hence the need for quick and easy meals, otherwise we would be going through the drive thru way too much. Slow cooker meals are a saving grace for all crazy busy mama's like myself.
If you love easy slow cooker meals like this one, you would love this easy ORANGE CHICKEN dump and go slow cooker meal. Ingredients: Smothered Chicken
- 2 1/2 lbs chicken breast or thighs
- 2 oz dry onion mix
- .87 oz chicken gravy mix
- 1 tsp chicken granules can substitute with broth instead of water
- 1 tsp garlic; powder
- 10.5 oz cream of chicken
- 1 cup water
Instructions: Smothered Chicken
- In your slow cooker add chicken with all ingredients on top of chicken. Place lid on slow cooker and place temp on low for 6-8 hours – or high for 4-6 hours until chicken reaches 165 degrees.
- Once chicken is cooked it is ready to serve.
- You can leave chicken in whole pieces like pictured below.
- or shred if you are covering it over mashed potatoes, rice or pasta like pictured below
Either way you serve it as a stand alone protein or smothered like the name indicates over mashed potatoes, rice or pasta this one is delicious.
Side Ideas:
Serve with a side salad and cottage cheese or mashed potatoes.

Don’t have chicken thawed out? No problem. You can cook in slow cooker frozen, just put together and make sure internal temperature gets to 165.
